Seed Development Programme · 2026–2029
Testing seed in local conditions before it reaches farmers
MC3 is developing a multi-phase seed programme with an established regional seed company, to support seed testing, demonstration, planting and eventual seed multiplication in Angola, in line with Angola's seed testing and certification requirements.
Our 3-phase model
From testing to local seed supply
Seed testing and evaluation
Introduce and evaluate selected seed varieties to generate reliable local information on their performance.
- Seed testing
- Variety evaluation
- Demonstration plots
- Agronomic monitoring
- Data collection
- Farmer observation and learning
- Institutional collaboration
Demonstration and planting
Demonstrate and plant selected varieties at the sites, as practical learning platforms where farmers can observe crop performance.
- Demonstration plots
- Farmer field demonstrations
- Agronomic monitoring
- Crop performance assessment
- Farmer training and knowledge sharing
- Documentation of results
Seed multiplication and expansion
Subject to successful testing, institutional approvals and certification requirements, develop seed multiplication and broader distribution.
- Seed multiplication
- Quality assurance
- Certification processes
- Farmer access to quality seed
- Expansion to more farming communities
- Sustainable seed supply chains
Our locations
Four demonstration sites
The initial programme focuses on four provinces.
Demonstration and seed testing to evaluate crop performance under local conditions.
Demonstration and evaluation of selected seed varieties under local growing conditions.
Assessing suitable varieties and production approaches for the province's agricultural and climatic conditions.
Seed demonstration and evaluation supporting improved production and future seed multiplication.
Projects 2026–2029
Programme timeline
Planned start of seed testing, demonstration and planting at the four initial sites.
Expand demonstrations, collect and analyse performance data, engage farmers and refine production models.
Develop seed multiplication, subject to successful evaluation and required approvals.
Extend successful models to more farmers and locations and build a wider seed distribution network.
Specific activities and timelines depend on technical assessments, institutional approvals, seasonal conditions and partnership agreements.
